Forni Farm Spring Plant Sale | Santa Rosa - Sonoma County

Melanie Wong | May 4, 202109:36 PM

Remember way back when MImi Sheraton rhapsodized about the Giant Syrian grown by Calistoga's Forni-Brown-Welsh Gardens in “1,000 Foods to Eat Before You Die"? Besides supplying premium produce to Sonoma and Napa top restaurants, the gardens' Spring plant sale inspired an annual pilgrimage of in-the-know avid home gardeners. Up until the founders retired in 2018.

Fortunately, the next generation of Fornis decided to continue the family farming tradition and established a new nursery in west Santa Rosa. The plans for the grand opening a year ago were upended by the coronavirus. With a quick pivot to online sales, the farm has made it to another season and opened up for in-person retail plant sales last week. Hours are Thursday through Saturday, 9:30am to 3:30pm.
