Foodies - review

kate | Jul 11, 200307:46 PM

A friend and I went to Foodies on Wilshire in Brentwood today for lunch. It was very good. I had the grilled veggie and smoked gouda/pesto panini with air baked fries and my friend had the caprese panini with air baked fries. Both were on nutty, whole-grain bread. It was more food than either of us could finish. Even though we were full (and couldn't finish lunch), we split the apple pie a la mode. Very tasty - thinly sliced apples (not mushy) with a crust that was more cake than crust (but v. good). It was served with vanilla ice cream, caramel, and real whipped cream.

The service was excellent and friendly - the waitress checking on us and drink glasses filled without asking. The restaurant space is also nice, with big windows that let in light, spacious, and good acoustics. I could talk without having to shout.

All in all, a lovely space for lunch (and dinner). They have a selection of salads, soups, pastas, meat, veggie dishes, as well as a large list of sides that you can choose from for your meal.

The total for two: $32.53 (inc tax, not tip)
2 sandwiches with fries
1 ice tea
1 apple pie a la mode

I didn't catch the address, but it is on the north side of Wilshire, west of Federal, on the second floor of a small strip mall.
