Foodie Grandparents in search of perfect meal

Rachelk | Dec 22, 200009:15 AM     5

For my grandfather's 83rd B-day we want to treat him and my grandmother to 3 or 4 really good New York meals. They have lived on Park avenue forever and the were have certainly been foodies throughout their lives. They are still really social and go out with their friends at least a few times a week--meaning they know the new york food scene pretty well. They love the classicis--Daniel, Jean-George etc.. but we are hoping to get them into some edgier newer restaurants to expend their horizans a bit. So what we are looking for are some suggestions on some really good restaurnts--preferbly with guaranteed parking (I KNOW its new york--this is a challenge people!. Less expensive than someplace like Daniel, but still somewhere nice. They take themselves out for Chinese etc around the city all the time, so we are definitly thinking something more upscale but off the beaten path. Any thoughts?
