Follow up on La Mdeleine chain - gone downhill

I've recommended this bakery/cafeteria chain with outlets all over the Southwest and beyond earlier based on several visits, the last one dating 2 years ago.

I've just returned from Houston, where I'm sad to say that their baked products have gone downhill. It seems La Madeleine has degenerated into a basic pseudo-French American chain like au Bon Pain and so forth. Not that there is anything wrong with cookies and danishes, but in the past, you could count on items like almond croissants and fruit tarts being authentic, which is no longer the case.

This sharp decline in authenticity coincides with its French owner selling the chain to a local company.
