Foley's South End/Townsend's

Finally got a team together for Foley's Tues. trivia nite and did quite well, 3 teams were neck and neck for 2nd-4th places but alas, we ended in 4th. Ate first and it was okay but not great. I just got the burger w/ bacon and blue cheese and it was kind of not so wide but a little too tall. Not meatballs like RFO but a large bite. And done way past medium. Which sometimes is okay cuz there's still juiciness but not this time. Fries were good, not bad for $9 but not great. Friends had fish sandwiches and a steak salad and all thought it was fine. The cole slaw served with the fish was excellent. Service was friendly all around and it was a fun time. Will probably try trivia some place else since their style lasted a little long (suggestions?).

Last nite ate at Townsend's in Hyde Parkk and it was a very nice meal. Stuffed trout was a whole fish stuffed with grilled corn, leaks and fava beans. I'm not the biggest fava fan but they were fine, the leeks were tasty as anything. I got reminded of a Top Chef episode when I pulled out a few bones but not so bad. Fingerling potatoes were fine, bread basket and olive oil was good. Friend had a nice pork loin w/ sweet potato cakes and a pear sauce and that was juicy and flavorful. Server was nice but seemed to push a tad for us to order apps and desssert. The room is really nice w/ a bar seating about 8, it'd be fun to have a private party upstairs. I feel it's a little overpriced for the area and was surprised there was no standby burger or sandwich of some sort. I think they'd get more people in there with a couple more casual menu items. But wines were priced well and my friend wants to go back to try some of those many beers.
