Not sure just when this happened, but the Flushing Food Court at 36-58 Main St. has gone belly-up. (If this was reported here, I missed it.)
No one who was there for its last months will be surprised at its demise. The place seemed to be falling apart physically (plumbing and electrical problems) and struggling financially (missed rent payments). It would close for weeks at a time, then reopen minus a vendor or two. And there was strong competition from Flushing Mall, Mayflower and other Asian food courts.
The space is now a Chinese bookstore called Soyodo. It's gotten a fresh coat of paint and there's no hint of its former incarnation. But when it's warm enough and the air is still, you might still catch a whiff of the stinky tofu stall.
