Finally got to Harper's in Dobbs Ferry--4 out of 5 Stars

They would have gotten 5 easily but the poached egg on the frisee & lardon salad was just to overdone. There was just not enough of that yolky goodness but luckily it was jam-packed with bacon nuggets that I did not send it back. Here's a quick summary of hits from our table of 4: mack & jack cocktail was a bourbon delight on the rocks, lardo special "salad" was more of a small app then a salad in that it was two tasty bruschetta topped with arugula and lardo. The chicken liver app on thicker bruschetta was beyond decadent with toasted walnut halves (so much liver on the grilled bread that I used some of the house bread as well). Great house bread and the maple butter that came for table was perfect. soft and not to sweet not to salty. borderline addictive. porkchop was thicj and fatty. perfectly medium rare as ordered. 2 of the 4 said that the short ribs were the best they have ever had and they did not share. mean. The fluke was very nice as well. That person also did not share. Coffee was strong but why no cream or half & half? That was the only other sad moment/miss of the night which was forgotten once the chocolate bread pudding was brought over. Hands down one of the best desserts so far of 2011. The peanut butter pound cake was not as good BUT the Nutella ice cream that accompanied it was sublime. I should have put a spoonful of that in my coffee! Dobbs Ferry has now yet another reason I may move west (in the county)...
