I was wandering around the Fillmore Jazz & Art Festival yesterday. Into my hand was placed a flyer from the Pacific Coast Farmers Market Association announcing the launch of a new farmers market on July 12 running until I belive November. First day is Sat., July 12 from 8:30-1:00 at Fillmore & Eddy.
In talking with this rep I asked her why they decided to go up against the Ferry building market. She said convenience. Um, okay. IMHO, it would give the farmer's who are participating a fair economic shake to have it on Sunday--and the community in general would get a second outlet for buying produce etc.
Yeah it's convenient and it's great to have it in a neighborhood that should have access to fresh produce but I'll be very keen on seeing the turnout of shoppers and vendors.
