Filling the void of Vi's

As I was leafing through old San Francisco magazines, I noticed that there was a snippet in 2003 about the possible closing of vi's. The author asked the owners if they had any recommendations for replacements, and the two responses were (1) pho hoa on international, across the street from a not-so-great cam huong, and (2) vien huong, which han lukito posted about a few threads down.

i am looking for a vietnamese noodle place with the best broth possible (chicken broth, not pho broth). vi's duck leg soup and the combination soup were the king of the hill, but now they are gone. pho hoa, while having a great pho broth, does not have that interesting of a chiken broth. i have not been to vien huong, but that is on the list for this week.

any other places to try? i am actually sort of depressed about vi's, this is the first time a favorite restaurant of mine has closed down.
