Stopped here for dinner last week after a winery pick up in Sonoma. Been at the Fig Cafe before and the food is always solid, always free corkage and the value excellent.
No reservations are taken so plan accordingly, they fill up quickly when they open at 5:30. If you go later, I suggest about 90 minutes or so when the first seating starts to leave.
DW had the Fig & Arugula salad, with chevre, pecans, pancetta, fig & port vinaigrette. I had the soup of the day, a creamy and rich butternut squash soup. Both starters were very good and the good crusty bread helped sop up that soup.
Entrees were the roasted salmon, fingerling potatoes, shallots, roasted beets and marinated ricotta and Cafe pot roast, recently added to the Fall menu. Came with horseradish whipped potatoes, braised greens and cipollini onions. The salmon was good and cooked perfectly but the pot roast was the clear winner. Large chunks of tender meat, tasty and delicious and the potatoes added some kick.
Had a 2012 Bedrock Lorenzo's Heritage red wine which was excellent with dinner.
The Fig Cafe and Wine Bar is a good choice for dinner every night or brunch on Saturday and Sunday.
