I love a cozy date night or post-work happy hour with good beers and great food. So far, Klimat (East 7th Street) is my favorite spot. But I hate to go to the same place repeatedly- that means I'm missing out on the other 25,000 food and drink spots in the city! Can anyone recommend other places to try?
What I like about Klimat:
- Hearty and delicious food- favorites are pierogies, lamb burger, amazing garlic fries
- Eastern European beers on tap (I like Golden Pheasant, Brou Czech, and Baltika, and haven't seen those on tap anywhere else.) I rarely drink wine or cocktails, so beer selection is important.
- Relaxing atmosphere, usually not too crowded
- Friendly bartenders
Are there any similar places in the East Village or surrounding areas that I should check out? Klimat is also a splurge for me ($8 for a draft beer, $10 small plates, $16-18 mains ) so cheaper options would be welcomed too.
Thanks for any ideas!
I looked at the Bars for Beer Snobs thread but some of it was lost on me, since I'm not really a beer snob (more like a beer newbie.)
Jimmy's No. 43 and Burp Castle sound interesting...
