Explored the farmers markets this a.m. - Magazine St. in Cambridge has the rockin' good tomatoes that have me feenin'. Beautiful zucchini, squash, chard, berries, just a bit of lettuce left. Early corn coming in. Also, Kimball has some lovely kale and mustard greens, not at all bitter.
Union Square looks like it's traded the folk-singing duo for something a little more rock-based as the trapset was being set up. Got the great fresh fava beans from Parker again. Dang these were good. Tried the small ciabatta (cheese & herbs for $1.50) from the bakery stand. It was okay. Heavy on the olive oil (it's all good), well salted and seasoned, but the bread itself was more of a sourdough, which was a bit odd. They do have nice looking breads, may try the foccacia next. They look more like unsauced pizzas, but the toppings look good - onion, tomato, one with greens.
Union Square market is 9-1, I'm pretty sure (IIRC) that the Magazine St. market is 10-2.
