I saw a sign on Harrison near All Star donuts advertising Fallon's Cafe. I stopped by later about 4:15 pm.
It is a new cafe on Harrison near Sixth. On Friday and Saturday they are open 24 hours which is nice if you are at any of the area clubs and are looking for a place to stop after the clubs close.
If the food matches the enthusiasm of the staff, it seems like it will be a nice place to stop. They close Sunday at 4pm, but they insisted I have a free mocha java, gave me a menu and a slew of postcards with coupons for a free first cup of coffee. They opened a week ago.
They have some really nice looking pastery and I bought a piece of tasty carrot cake. It was a light colored version, full of pineapple and bright shredded carrot with a nice cream cheese frosting. The mocha was good too.
Don't have more to report, but decided to let people know about the place because there are so few coffee shops in the area especially open late at night. The thrill of stopping in at All Star Donuts after midnight sometimes can give you more of an adreniline rush than the coffee and donuts.
This is a clean sunny restaurant with table cloths. The staff repeated that they had an outstanding lunch and to please come back.
They promised daily house made soups (3.25). Lunch sandwichs are turkey, roast beef, ham, portobello mushroom, meatball, tuna, blt and burgers. The postcard says the turkey is fresh roasted. Salads include caesar, chinese chicken, spinach and ahi tuna salad (the most expensive dish on the menu at 8.95). Sides include pommes frites, potato salad, house salad, pasta salad and fruit bowl. They have wine and beer.
Breakfast runs in the 5 - 7 dollar range and for Sunday brunch a free Mimosa is added. Breakfast items include herb roasted potatoes and toast.
I think there is a dinner menu also.
I'll stop there again, but hope if any others stop by they will give a report.
