Falafel for Josh in Queens....

Janie | Nov 9, 2004 09:57 PM

Okay, Josh, for kosher falafel in Queens my hands down favorite is Haspigah on Union Turnpike in Kew Garden Hills, it is a nice kosher steakhouse that also serves traditional middle eastern food, they are Iraqui Israeli, and so their food is quite spicy. They make amazing GREEN (NON Fava Bean--see previous falafal discussion not too long ago about this),,falafel, great hot sauce, their own fresh hot pita, excellent fried spicy eggplant, superb hummus with mushrooms, and great tahini. They also have very good chicken kebabs, and good steak. I usually get the salad platters there and assemble my own sandwich, but you can certainly either sit down and order a sandwich or you can walk to the back where the takeout area is and tell them exactly what you want in your sandwich..Everything is Fresh, and the place is VERY clean, and has a nice ambiance...and they actually have good service which is a bit of an anomaly in middle eastern restaurants, where they like to bring you your beverage at the end of your meal. Well, hate to generalize, but for the last 25 years, this has been my experience.

They have a website where you can see their menu,:

There are other places that I won't even bother mentioning because I think they are inferior, but I've tried many of them, several times, hoping for change, and Hapisgah remains my hands down favorite.
