let's start with the positive: cute location in that it is tucked away behind the main road in Modica Bassa. The physical restaurant is beautiful, with a lovely outdoor terrace and spacious indoor seating. This was supposed to be a high end restaurant in Modica, but there were only two tables of foreigners, including ourselves.
Beef tartare topped with shavings of black truffle was a pile of bland ground beef topped with a greatly over-salted shaving of truffle. Not impressive.
Duck with goat cheese with "fruit of forest" had excellent flavor, cooked perfectly, but was just a little on the tough side.
Gamberi crudo was fresh and had great flavor
Tuna raviolis was unexpectedly fishy. Perhaps it was aged, but not what any of us were expecting. Being a frequent consumer of fish, I thought it tasted more like sardines.
Guanciale raviolis were bland and watery.
Now, onto the entrées:
Filetto of beef was one of the toughest cuts of beef we have ever had. Super bland. Don't even consider.
Swordfish was nothing to write home about. The mashed potatoes were better than the fish.
Pork entree was also over-salted, over-cooked and bland.
The presentation of all these dishes was excellent, so don't let pictures fool you.
Now, for the good news:
The wine and canolos were excellent!

Overall advice: there are much better restaurants in Modica
