Finally went to Company, a spot that opened at Newark St. and Garden in Hoboken. Very, very good food. Sort of a high-end comfort food menu (fried chicken seemed popular gaguing from the other tables). My wife had snapper poached in parchment paper (if you're poaching, why do you need to do it in parchment??) with some sort of wasabi sauce and onions. Tasted great. I had some sort of whole fish (barzini? is sounded like) stuffed with rosemary, sated and grilled. Great. I had the white bean croquettes, she had latkes. Also excellent. Nice, cool vibe.
The big downside: horrible noise levels. For a restaurant that seats only 40, I couldn't believe how loud it was. We could barely talk over dinner. Also, it's on the expensive side for a neighborhood joint. our entrees were $20 but that's no vegetables, rice or whatever.
Not as good as Amanda's, which to me is by far the best restaurant in Hoboken (best I've had in New Jersey, actually). BUt we'll be going back, on a slow, quiet night.
