Excellent frugal lunch in Lincoln, UK

David | Nov 9, 2004 08:23 AM

Lincoln, about 2 hours north of London (east of Nottingham) is off the beaten track ,but if you are there to tour the cathedral and castle, you may tire of spending too much for so-so food at the restaurants. The best luch at the most reasonable price I've found in Lincoln is at TOUCH, 43-47 Clasketgate, a relatively new restaurant a few blocks east of the City Centre. Their buffet is modest, but offers french bread, salad fixings and usually 3 hot dishes plus potatos and basmatti rice, and all for £3.99. If you want wine or beer, of course, you pay more. Their appear to be mostly office workers enjoying lunch, but our first time there a small wedding party complete with bride-in-gown were enjoying the bufet. The service is cordial and fast, the ambiance is table cloths and wine glasses, and the restrooms are new and clean. --Enjoy.
