I'm looking for a decent Thai place in Jackson. Anything out there besides the Thai House? For that matter, any other good lunch places that I should check out? Location = within a few minutes of the I-55 corridor.
Reports:
Meditarraenan Cafe - this place is great. I had the meat lunch special (some sort of gyro-like meat cut into slices) with stuffed grape leaves, falafal, and hummus. Everything was declicious except the falafel (it was just ok). The prices are very low. I would definitely recommend this spot.
Indian Restaurant near Northside Drive - this was not a good dining experience. First, they only serve a buffet (and I hate buffets). Second, the atmosphere was almost creepy. We were one of about 4 tables and the restaurant was eerily quiet. Third, the food was not good and very unappealing to the eye. Each dish resembled different-colored goop. The tandoori chicken was very tough. Would not go back.
Pan-Asia - this chain-like restaurant was actually quite delicious. I had the lettuce wraps, which I am a big fan of. I believe I had the chicken pad thai as well, which was well-seasoned (but far too large for one person to eat). They also make a Singapore Sling (with umbrella) which made me feel totally cheesy but I had to order it. Would go back.
Keifer's (on Poplar) - excellent Greek restaurant in a charming old house. The Gyro wrap was excellent, as were the oddly-cut fries (be sure and order a side of feta sauce for the fries). A friend ordered some sort of pita with cheese on top as an appetizer that got rave reviews.
That's all for now - will report back in a few weeks.
