Esperanto or Max for fun anniversary dinner?

jeannette | Jun 9, 2005 10:42 AM

When I asked about restaurants/bars around Avenue C, I didn't expect to get that many responses. Once again, the chowhounds come through for me. I have done some research on the suggestions that were given to me and thought that Esperanto and Max were probably the best for my husband and I. In order for me to decide, I just need a little more input. How long is the usual wait for an outdoor table for 2 on Saturday night (say around 7pm)? Is there live music (I think I read that Esperanto has live music sometimes)? Which one has better food? Which one is more fun and lively (non-snobby clientele is a must)? Thanks for all of your help!
