An Armenian chef presiding over a menu with Russian, Ukrainian, Georgian and Turkish dishes.
Emanbajady is their interpretation of the Turkish Iman Bilyaldi ("the swooning Iman") - stew aubergines with tomato, peppers and onions, given a little green sharpness of flat leaf parsley. Not a bad rendition, the vegetables cooked just right. Perhaps the flavours could have melded a bit more perhaps by mellowing a bit -- this had a bright and fresh taste.
Deeply flavoured lamb filling and stock in the hinkali aka khinkali, a dumpling with thick, slightly doughy, slightly tender skins, perfect for nibbling a hole at the bottom of the dumpling and slurping the stock as it leaks out.
Good and light armenian honey cake for dessert, nutty and honey sweet.
A big menu that needs more investigation.
