We are just back from ten days in the UK. At Holyrood House in Edinburgh, we had a toffee layer cake that was to die for. The layers themselves were toffee flavored. This was not in any way a sticky toffee pudding. We had been given some packaged cakes several years ago from friends who had visited York, and the cake itself had that same toffee flavor. I can't find a recipe or mention anywhere. In both cases, the layers were a medium-brown color. Can anyone put me on to a recipe for this, please?
