El Rey de Los Mariscos "Bahia Caporales"

Starving for a shrimp coctiel this lunch hour and being in East Los, we ventured to this restaurant at 630 S.Atlantic, LA 90022, 323-262-9496. (about five long blocks south of 60 freeway) Shrimp came in many ways - I opted for the jumbo coctiel ($8.95), packed with good shrimp but no diced avocado in the well flavored tomato broth. Lots of fresh hot chips with a robust home made salsa, red and tingling. SO had pork adobada, simply delicious beans, onion salsa, avocado etc (salad given instead of rice) - starter was cream of crab soup - was that ever a winner not only with us but obviously with several other diners. Good service, bill was $16 and we could barely waddle out of there. Will be back to eat our way through the lunch menu which featured 4 or 5 shrimp dishes for $6 - $7 plus a super lunch daily special. I like this place a real hound dive. "A" rating too - one of my prerequisites for a seafood place.
