I've usually been a fan of El Margon (46th between 6th/7th) on wednesdays as they feature roast pork as one of the daily specials. Also on the Wednesday specials is the octopus salad which I haven't had in a while, mostly because I thought they skimped on the portions. My bad. They don't skimp, and it's quite good and refreshing, especially on those hot days we've been experiencing. For $8 with rice, beans and plantains, it's a deal. The octopus salad deal is also available on Fridays. While it may not be the best examples of these dishes, El Margon is a marvelous midtown resource, serving solid and affordable fare. By the way, has anyone tried their morir sonando drink?
