El Aguacate Del Grullo ...quick lunch

Swarthog | May 24, 200607:54 PM

On Clayton Road near Baily in Concord. I had the urge for a Pupusa and thought back to a CH reort about this place. $1.65 each brought me 2 Pork and Cheese Pupusas. Since I was the only one in the place the only sounds I heard beside the Spanish TV drama was the pat pat pat of Pupusas being made. I also opted to try 2 sweet corn Tamales (3.75)with sour cream and they arrived together with the Pupusas. The tamales were OK but two were too many to eat alone they are better in smaller doses. The Pupusas though were a different story. Piping hot and perfectly grilled and served with Curtido they hit the spot and were among the better Pupusas I've had. Next time I'll go back with a few people and we wil try a few other items as the Empanadas and Sopes looked promising. No decor or ambiance to speak of, just honest cooking.
