Eat at Sawa's Eritrean NOW!

Last night I ate at Sawa's, an Eritrean place right by my house on Divis at Hayes. Oh my. I just want all you Hounds to RUN down there and get yourself a plate of Hamli with tuna, (about $8) a spinachy-spicy melange set off perfectly by tuna's slight fishiness. When plunked on a piece of authentic injera and ladled generously with home-made yogurt, it brings a tear of pleasure to this eater's eyes. Go! Order the hamli!

Oh, and be ready for slowness -- they cook food to order and for some reason it takes forever. Worth it! Order a couple of samosas (I always order the veggie ones -- full of plump, perfect peas. Lentil is also yummy), and have a glass of good honey wine while you are waiting.
