went looking for the taste of chinatown on saturday and found pretty much nothing! i saw two little stands outside places, was pretty disappointed although i may have just not looked hard enough. instead went over to dumpling house (which thanks to recs here had been meaning to try), and was delighted by how the tourists really don't head east of bowery so it was nice and quiet, and proceeded to eat the most amazing meal for $2.50. the sesame pancake, with beef, as recommended, was incredible, and the pork fried dumplings were the best i have ever had. so flavorful, incredibly fresh.
thanks for talking it up on here!
