a couple of us chowhounds from baltimore will be in minneapolis for the weekend, staying downtown with no car. we notice a few names popping up repeatedly -- lucia's, nicollet island inn (we almost stayed there), aquavit, barbette, to name a few -- and are looking for recomenndations that will keep us in the downtown area, near the university. we're booked at the radisson metrodome so we'd especially like to find walking distance places from there.
we're interested in ethnic and new american spots primarily but will go anywhere for good chow. what is the minneapolis equvialent to the baltimore classic crabcake, anyway? is there any dish we should be sure to try while we're in town? (please don't tell us it's lutefisk).
also, are there any jazz clubs downtown, or other good music/entertainment spots?
thanks in advance!
