I discarded too much starter and I panicked. Did I ruin it?

Today is day 5 of my sourdough starter. I'm using King Arthur whole wheat flour (except on day 3 when I used all purpose but I've been using wheat since.)

Last night and this morning it had a very pleasant yeasty taste/Aroma. Although it didn't rise as much as I wanted. Normally, I discard 4 oz of starter and put it in a separate jar to save and add a weighed 4 oz of whole wheat flour and 4 oz of lukewarm water.

After a lot of internet searching and too many different opinions I had a momentary lapse of insanity.
I weighed my starter, was 16 ounces. I took out 8 and put that in my discard jar then I added 4 oz of flour and 4 oz of cold water (because i read cold works better) and stirred it. Then I remembered reading that if you do that that means it's too watery and weak so then I started to panic.

I dumped 2 very full tbsp's in. It was too dry so I measured out a cup of warm water, & poured that in. But before I could use the whole cup it started to look over watery and soupy. So I started to pour it out but then some of my starter went down the drain! I panicked and threw a big tbsp of the discarded starter back in the jar, stirred/tasted it and it just tastes like flour and water. Did I screw up royally and now it's dead? I don't even know what's wrong with me, lol. I'm done researching stuff online it was a nightmare. And now I'm scared I ruined it. How can I fix this?
