Disappointed in higher end butters flavors: Tillamook and Plusgras vs. LoL, Stew Leonards/store brands

mushroomaffairs | Sep 21, 202005:21 PM     23

Last weekend, I bought Tillamook and Plusgras butters which I was really excited to try. Last year I bought a bunch of Land O' Lakes European style butters and was very disappointed because it didn't taste creamy at all but almost oily. I just did a taste test of all of the butters I have.

All butters were unsalted.

Tillamook
Plusgras Extra Creamy
Stew Leonards
Shoprite Bowl and Basket house brand
Land O Lakes Sweet Cream

I just don't get it with Tillamook and Plusgras. I'm surprised at the lack of butter flavor, no sweet cream flavor that I like and identical to the Land O Lake's European butter. More the flavor of a very neutral oil. I still buy Stews if I make the effort to go but their butter and dairy products have went downhill for some time.

Unless it's something I'm just used to but Shoprite and Land O Lakes had the best flavors and I actually like Shoprite's butter the best.

I also used Plusgras and Tillamook to sautee vegetables and I didn't get the rich buttery flavor I was hoping.

Anyone else have similar experiences? Or what am I missing or should be tasting?
