Dirty Bird To Go - my visit

eeee | May 7, 2006 10:08 PM

On my way to a Cinco de Mayo celebration, I stopped by Dirty Bird To Go on impulse. It was a bit before 8; they apparently close at 9. They were completely out of the rotisserie chicken and lemonade and were not yet serving greens. I opted to try the fried chicken.

First of all, yes, the pieces are fairly small. I did, however, detect a faint sweetness to the meat, and I found the chicken itself moist and tasty. The fried skin, however, was leaden and bland. I ended up removing it. I also used some of the pepper sauce available, which helped a bit.

I would be curious to see how the rotisserie chicken tastes, since I found the chicken itself tasty and the rotisserie is, for some reason, cheaper than the fried version.

Also, it's very expensive. I'm no cheapskate, but 7.50 for two small pieces of fried chicken without a side? I'd much rather head down the block to Popeyes. Mmm... Popeyes spicy fried chicken with potatoes and biscuits.
