Diner 29 in Fairfax

I discovered Diner 29 on this board last night when I was feverishly trying to find a place in Fairfax to dine with an out-of-town guest. It sounded fun and a little silly.

It was a bizarre experience - the place is very small. It makes the Silver Diner look like a mansion. However the architecture is the coolest thing about the place.

The food was standard diner fare but the service was really really bad. Let's just say these ladies never heard of the "service with a smile" concept. They adopted the service with a glare approach. The cook sat at the front counter drinking coffee and smoking when she didn't have an order. The only reason I knew that she was the cook was because I saw her cooking - no apron, hat, hair-net etc. Which is probably how the two hairs ended up on my french fries.

If you're bored, it might be fun for the experience - but if you're hungry, keep heading down the road to one of the more reliable burger joints.
