DFW -- Buffet at Nuevo Leon

Kirk | Dec 16, 2003 12:56 PM

I was intrigued by the fairly new banner outside the Oak Lawn Nuevo Leon announcing a weekday brunch for $5.95, so I stopped in and tried it today. (They've had a very popular Sunday brunch for quite a while.)

There was a good selection of dishes, from tortilla soup to chilaquiles, to brisket, to tamales, to two types of enchiladas (chicken with tomatillo sauce and shredded beef with red sauce), with salad, rice, refried beans and charro beans as accompaniment. There were also hard taco shells and ground beef for those interested. The ingredients were very fresh, and I didn't see signs of Velveeta or Rotel tomatoes anywhere. Table service was very friendly, fast and efficient. With soft drink and tip, the whole meal was $10.

All in all, it was good food and a great value, and definitely worth checking out.
