For dinner tonight I made short ribs braised in red wine, balsamic roasted asparagus, and mashed potatoes. For dessert I made pear clafoutis. It all looked good on paper, but by the time we got to the clafoutis we were feeling all weighed down and sleepy. We took one look at the dessert and felt as if it would stick to our ribs....and our thighs....and our hips....and finally send us into a coma.
What would be a more light, refreshing dessert a rich meal? Maybe something fruity and less floury, although something like sorbet seems a bit too summery right now.
