DC hound needs Norristown advice

I'm about to interview for a job in Norristown, PA, and am trying to find out what kind of an area this is chow-wise. I've searched through the posts below and found some surprising (to me) info about authentic Mexican places, and also a fair amount of bemoaning of the chow situation.

I would be grateful for any more general information about the area, as I totally ignorant - I didn't even look the town up on a map before I sent the job app. If Norristown is not worth eating in, what nearby towns are, and what do they have? Is driving into Philadephia to eat a realistic option or something you'd only do a few times a year? So you know where I'm coming from, I am most interested in Asian, and have mostly lived in big cities (originally from NYC) so am pretty spoiled. Oh, and I would be making NOT a lot of money!

Thanks!
