Sorry George, but I must take exception with the reliability of the Daytona Beach website reviews you've referred Hounds to. We've lived here for over a year now (from Ft. Lauderdale) and have yet to experience anything similiar to what one of the site's typical reviews called "Authentic New York pizza." That's just one example of the reviews that really are far off the mark.
Being a former restaurant planner and owner, I understand how difficult the business is and I'm not here to hurt anybody trying to make a living. But, just as unfair would be to unrealistically highten the expectations for the dining public through some of these marginal reviews.
Everything is relative and we've already "adjusted" our expectations downward with respect to Chinese and pizza since moving here - funny how that happens real fast - its called survival. But, the fact clearly remains, Daytona Beach's independently owned and operated restaurants are not very good. They are nowhere near the quality found in NYC or even Ft. Lauderdale.
