Dark Corn Syrup ok sub for light?

I want to make a simple roly-poly and just discovered that I only have the dark syrup. My guess is that it won't make a huge difference, but I cook very rarely with corn syrup, so I'm not sure. Also, any thoughts on adding toasted walnut pieces to the roly poly? Thanks very much in advance for any help you can offer.
