I stumbled upon Daisy May's BBQ truck stand today on 50th street (south side), just West of 6th Ave. I'm not sure how long the stand has been there, but I gave it a shot. I haven't been to the storefront yet. btw, I grabbed the menu and noted that the chili wasn't listed.
the only thing being sold at the stand is chili (i don't recall the exact name).
options: white rice and/or black beans for the bottom of the cup, a smokey, thick, hot sauce, side of onions, side of cheddar, dollop of sour cream. the cup came with 1 flour tortilla as well.
I am not a chili expert by any means, but I really enjoyed it. It was quite thick, red-brown hue, with big chunks of brisket and a smokey (chipotle?) flavor. IMO it was well-seasoned, with a relatively mild-medium kick. I should mention that I opted for only a small spoonful of their homemade hot sauce on top. One size only = $6, can of soda = $1.
Has anyone else given this a shot? I'm particularly interested in hearing from any "chili experts".
