Daichan - revolving sushi bar in WLA

Zoe | Aug 21, 200501:55 AM

Stopped at Japanese Deli on Sawtelle to pick up some lunch when someone handed a flyer to this newly opened restaurant in the Olympic Collection.

Ultra modern revolving counter making the sushi bar ALL counter with several live sushi masters performing behind - very upbeat atmosphere with lots of jazzy music - they are waiting for a liquor license. But to the food - very fresh - each plate which are reduced in price for the opening special from $1.50 to $5.50 regular $2.00 to $6.00 has a bar code on the bottom of the plate, which is covered. After one hour on the moving belt, it is removed via a camera so that all the offerings are fresh. If you want fresher, just ask the sushi person and he will make it for you - we had popcorn shrimp, excellent plus something called LAFD, Los Angeles Fire Dept which was a roll cut up with firey sauce - several different kinds of fish in it. Pretty good tuna and yellowtail sushi.

Not for the purists but lots of fun for a family Saturday lunch with warm service, very involved with the customer and good prices.

11301 W.Olympic
open 12-10pm M-Th. 12-10.30pm Fri and Sat. 12.30-9.30pm Sunday
