Curry Leaves Restaurant - new in Lincoln Park

Valerie | Mar 17, 200503:31 PM

This restaurant has been open a few weeks and is a couple of doors up from Hema's on Clark Street.

They have a lunch buffet every day. I ate there this week. The buffet is limited, but all the dishes are good and all taste distinctly different. The serving dishes are small and seem to be replenished frequently and were very fresh. It is also cheap for the neighborhood, as it was $7.00 and change, including tax.

The most intriguing thing is the regular menu. I asked for a take-out copy and was surprised, as it isn't the typical northern Indian fare. They have an Indian section and an Indo-Chinese section. The Indian section has some of the standard dishes but includes a significant number of southern Indian specialties, including several from Kerala. There are over half a dozen Dosa options as well.

Except for lunch, they seem empty most of the time. Strange when Hema's is so busy. I suppose a lot of people will not try a restaurant unless the local media have endorsed it.
