My husband and I were waiting for a friend to meet us at Hermosa Beach last night for dinner. We had plenty of time before she arrived, so we decided to have dessert first.
There is a crepe place called Creme de la Crepe on Pier Ave. Most of their menu are crepes - main dishes and desserts. They also had salads and such.
The server greeted us with an obvious French accent, so we knew right away we were in for a treat. My husband, who spent a year overseas speaking French, was excited to be able practice.
I ordered the Fondante crepe, which was filled with pears and chocolate, with a side scoop of icecream. Yum! Husband ordered the crepe suzette, with sugar and Grand Marnier, served en flambe. Yum and a half!
I had an ice blended latte, which has to be the best cold coffee drink I've ever had. It wasn't slushy since it didn't have any ice chucnks, but it was cold, creamy, frothy, and perfect. No sugar so it wasn't overly sticky sweet, and the natural sweetness of the milk/cream was enough. It was a perfect compliment to a warm evening and a dessert crepe.
The only drawback was that it was very warm in the restaurant. It was fairly empty, not sure why. Maybe because it's not a party bar. I recommend getting out and supporting this place if you are in Hermosa Beach.
On a side note, we went to Club Sushi for dinner. Bad choice for catching up with an old friend - way too loud and noisy especially as they kept turning up the music, too much American beer, decent but not very creative sushi (but we didn't sit at the sushi bar, so it may have been better over there).
