Craftbar private dining or other ideas?

chick-fil-a | Jun 13, 2006 03:31 PM

Does anyone have experience with private dining at Craftbar? (they have a room in the basement that can comfortably seat 40). Or has anyone eaten there since they changed chefs around New Years?

We've been searching for a place for a rehearsal dinner for 30-40 people in September and have emailed half the restaurants in town. We'd had our heart set on Lupa, but the cramped nature of the private room (a very tight squeeze for 30) and the spiciness of the food (too spicy for the parents who tried it) unfortunately will probably rule it out.

We were looking for someplace private, comfortable and wheelchair accessible, but not anonymous-looking; the food to be interesting and good and yet not too scary; a decent amount of choice built-in; vegetarian-friendly; the closer to Murray Hill the better, but not in the theater district; and the price not bank-breaking. (About 60-70 per person before alcohol/service).

I know someone will suggest Trio, but the menu isn't bowling me over. I could maybe be convinced.

Thanks in advance for your help.
