Maybe it was an off day, but we went for brunch at Comus Inn yesterday and nothing was really "on." Started off badly because they didn't have our reservation. Still seated us, but upstairs... which means a little bit of a schlep down steps each time you want to visit the buffet. Compared to our last visit, there didn't seem to be as much to choose from on the buffet, and I wasn't impressed with anything really. I had a crab omelette... tasty, but not made with lump crabmeat. Prime rib was cold and non-descript. The fish entree was dry and didn't taste like much to me. The fruit was disappointing... just some honeydew, cantelope, and plums. The desserts were slim pickins and not too tasty to me. Also... the milk punch cocktail which was a very special treat last time... it tasted off, kind of watery/bland. And our server was slow... didn't ask if we wanted coffee, let the cups go dry for a long time, didn't bring water unless asked, etc. It was really night and day different than when we'd gone there earlier in the year. That visit, each thing I mentioned here was dreamy good. I hope it was just an off day for them. Still... a beautiful setting and lovely view of Sugarloaf Mountain. Nice country spot.
