Commissary..Portland

So, went down to Portland to see Lucinda Williams on Monday. So many great places are closed on Mondays. Since I have eaten at Fore Street 100x and Ribolitta was closed.....decided to try The Commissary. I have to tell you, it really was a disappointment. The service was good, if a little fast and so were the cosmopolitans (haha)! We got our appetizers in about 30 seconds. Baby arugula salad w, shaved pecorino and carmelized onion tart. Salad was boring and poorly dressed (but I love the combo so it wasn't terrible). Onion tart was boring and just tasted like a small quiche. Entrees were scallops w/ balsamic glaze and cranberry/ brown rice. Uninspired. Salmon entree was WAY overcooked and was supposed to come w/ fingerling potatos but instead came w/ those dark purple ones and they tasted like they were boiled. For dessert we had an apple gallette that was not warm and very stale. The cinnamon ice cream was good. Great wine. I think the name was Zaca Mesa? something like that. We did have after dinner bevs but for $165, I did expect a lot more~! The menu was very small and not very interesting. Too bad!
I am kicking myself because I could have been sucking back oysters at the bar at Fore St. and having great tarte tatin for dessert! Bummer.
