I go on jags, as do many CHs , seeking out 'the best of' whatever ('the best' being subjective, as always). So, I do love coffee in my chocolates, and I've been on a dark chocolate bars jag ( i don't care for milk chocolate). Lately I have compared the coffee versions of : Vosges, Endangered Species, Chocolove and Berkshire Bark. My hands- down, after-just-one-bite winner, is our own Berkshire Bark(made in Sheffield MA).
Rich dark chocolate, smooth mouth feel, and delightful crunch of finely chopped espresso toffee and caramel coated cocoa nibs, plus almonds. Except for the less-easy-to-eat aspect of this thicker- format bar, I think the Berkshire Bark Jumpin' Java is just perfect. AND.....AND... Berkshire Bark bars are now on sale at WF til 12/28 (tues); usually $4.99, now $3.59. (Dave's Pasta's regular price of BB is $4.59). Fyi, if i didn't want nuts w/ my coffee chocolate, I'd choose the Chocolove version.
I just called and reserved my Berkshire Bark stash, so now I can share the news with you! Hope some of you will enjoy the discovery and/or the deal.
(Other finds:Of the series of dark chocolate bars carried locally, I am a big fan of the Chocolove options. Their dried cherry and ancho chiles variety is much spicier than the Berkshire Bark version(chile pretty non-present). Other fav varieties are the Chocolove Orange and Ginger varieties.)
