Clients insist on Layla in Tribeca!!

AgonyAunt | Aug 8, 2001 11:40 AM

I'm arranging for my company to take a group of important clients to dinner in Manhattan, and the clients have made it clear that they wish to be taken to Layla in Tribeca. Unfortunately, all the background research I've managed to conduct on Layla has been conclusively negative. I realize that Chowhound isn't this type of advice board, but I was hoping that someone might come forward with some advice or an alternate suggestion. Should I take the clients where the want to go, even though we can be assured that the food will be disappointing? Has anyone had a positive experience at Layla? Should I risk taking the clients to a restaurant with a better reputation in hopes that good food and service will win their approval? Should I refuse to go to dinner with such horrible people who demand to go to trendy expensive restaurants with terrible reputations and risk driving my struggling company into certain ruin? Any input would be appreciated.
