Have a very small group coming over for Christmas eve, and wanted to serve a holiday cocktail, but I can't serve things I typically like because I'm afraid this group will think it's too strong. They like gin and tonics, whisky sours, margaritas and other not-too-boozy cocktails. They also seem to like pretty much anything with St. Germain in it. Ironically, they also enjoy a good cognac or rum neat.
I was thinking of making something with sparkling wine to keep things light and festive. These people would see adding anything to good champagne as an abomination, so I will probably use prosecco if I go the sparkling wine route. I have a new bottle of Fee's cranberry bitters I was hoping to use, but am open to anything.
One recipe I found that looked nice was this:
I was considering making it but subbing cranberry bitters for the shrub and maybe adding a tiny bit of St. Germain. Any thoughts? Any other suggestions of holiday-themed cocktails that are fairly simple and elegant?
