After coming back from Taiwan, the wife and I were fiending for Chinese breakfast.
We just spent the last two weekends trying to find a comparable experience at Yung Ho King Tou Chiang and Yi Mei.
We found Yung Ho King to be pretty over hyped and very greasy (didn't feel so well afterwards). We had tsung yo bing, shao bing, gua bao, jiu tsai he ze, beef noodle soup, yo tiao, and tou chiang. While the yo tiao was also very greasy, it was crispy and maybe the only good thing out of the kitchen. The tsung yo bing was dripping grease and didn't taste of any scallions at all. The place was packed, so I guess most people didn't feel the same as us. I just don't get that place.
Yi Mei, on the other hand, was very good. We had the yo tiao, tou chiang, xiao lum bao, gua bao, shao bing with pork belly, oyster pancake, jiu tsai he ze, and tsung yo bing. Pretty much everything was excellent except for the oyster pancake.
Now we are just wondering if there are any other contenders for a better chinese breakfast in the san gabriel valley? Any help hounds?
