Chinatown for really fresh poultry?

jenn | Sep 16, 2003 01:46 PM

The other week at the Hollywood Farmer's Market, we ordered a organic heritage turkey from the LA Slow Food people for our Thanksgiving dinner. I had one last year and it was great. I highly recommend them to fellow 'hounds who do holiday meals at home.

Then the chowpup and I were in Chinatown, stocking up on mooncakes [Queen's Bakery], and we wandered by those two poultry dealers with the live chickens.

I started to wonder--has anyone ever bought chickens or geese or ducks from either of these places and how were they? I know the stuff isn't going to be organic like my turkey day turkey but it sure would be fresh and I've had a difficult time finding fresh goose for the holidays.

Is one of the places better than the other?
