cherry strudel and cararmel apple

We had some great cherry strudel in Germany a couple of years ago... it was very light and flaky and not too sweet (a little tart in fact). Anyone know of a good bakery similar to that?

What about a place for really good cararmel apples (granny smith) with lots of nuts.

Anywhere from San Francisco to Palo Alto...thanks.
