I know it sounds odd, but let me explain. I have friends coming to Philly for lunch this Sat from NYC. We're going to be at the 19th and Chestnut area. I suggested the usual suspects: Continental Midtown, Devil's Alley, Rouge, Peitros Brick Oven & even threw in La Creperie and Bonte Waffles for low-key brunch options. Well, they wanted to know which of these places have Philly cheesesteak, and wouldn't you know it, none of 'em do! I personally am NOT a cheesesteak fan, so I don't want to end up at a Tony Lukes Jrs with few other options. I don't feel Lil Pete's or MidTown diner are quite up to par for friends coming in from Manhattan. I can't believe that the cheesesteak is not on the menu of a regular Rittenhouse spot for Sat lunch. Come on, someone suggest a place where I can still get a good non-greasy meal? Thanks much!
